Sunny Mountain

We spent this past weekend up in Park City with my family.  It was a short trip, but we managed to get sunburned faces and enjoy a couple of days on the mountain.  I had hoped to take a lot of pictures, but I found that snowboarding is one of those things that distracts me from my camera. These are a couple of my favorites.

A Piece of Heritage

With school coming to an end, and due dates approaching, I find myself with less and less time to get out and take any pictures. Summer will be a very welcomed change. I had a little bit of time on Saturday so I took a drive around the backside of Utah lake. There are a bunch of very small rural towns such as Genola, Goshen, and Elberta on the drive. Interestingly, my grandparents grew up in Genola before moving to California, so it was a bit of a historical trek as well. These are a few pictures of some old buildings that caught my eye.

A Day at the Fields

Lacrosse is a sport I know very little about. To be honest, until today, I don't think I had ever watched it before. BYU plays on a field pretty close to our house, and on a sunny Saturday afternoon, it was a perfect occasion to snap a few photos. This was the first time I've ever tried shooting targets that move so fast. Quite frankly, most of my targets don't move at all. It turned out to be a challenge, but I had a lot of fun. On a different note, lacrosse seems like a pretty cool sport. With the brutality of a hockey match, and the quickness of a soccer game, you really can't go wrong.

Flowers on the Window Sill

This weekend we celebrated our six month anniversary of being married. I figure this year will probably be the only time we celebrate a 6 month anniversary. Wendy's favorite flowers are tulips. She loves seeing them in our window... As for me, I couldn't resist the opportunity to snap a few shots.

A Taste of Summer

Winter always seems to crawl at about mid February. Thoughts of sunshine, warmth, and the carefree atmosphere of summer are more and more vivid each day. It's like a glimpse of vibrant color in the midst of a black and white world.

Wendy had to work all day Saturday, and it was one of those days that I could not stand the thought of studying anymore. We've been having a lot of unseasonably wet weather for this time of year and as a result I've been kind of intrigued with how light reflects off of water. I spent the afternoon in Salt Lake trying to capture some of the water on the streets. I have to admit, shooting pictures in a busy city without really having a subject is a lot harder than I thought, especially when the rain is pouring down and I'm trying to keep my camera dry by holding it inside of my coat. I bet I looked funny...

While I was struggling to find any real subjects, and soaking myself in the process, a line of policemen rode up towards the capitol building. Shortly after them came a long line of people, also getting soaked. They were chanting their feelings about gay rights, or in this case, what they thought was the lack thereof. Not exactly the subject I went there to shoot, but the pictures turned out kind of interesting.

Winter can be cold and often dull here in Utah. It's often difficult to find subjects. I've found that the most random of subjects can often be the most interesting.

About Me

My photo
I'm a biology student at Brigham Young University. I'm graduating this April and plan on submitting my application to Podiatry school shortly after. When I'm not consumed with school one of my favorite things is photography. I love being able to capture the beauty of the world. Everything I do is purely for my entertainment and sanity. My wife Wendy and I have a blog at stevenandwendy.blogspot.com where we post pictures that have more to do with us and our life. She didn't want me to take it over with abstract photos, hence the reasoning for this blog. I hope you enjoy
